Covalently Cross-Linked Particles Based on Arabinoxylans: Antioxidant Activity and Cytotoxicity on a Human Colon Cell Line

چکیده
Polysaccharide-based carriers have become attractive materials for the delivery of therapeutics targeting colon. Ferulated arabinoxylans (AX)—polysaccharides with gelling and antioxidant capacities that can be degraded by colonic microbiota—are ideal candidates use as oral drug systems [1]. Recently, AX-based microspheres demonstrated potential applications colon-targeted [2,3]. The non-cytotoxicity is a required property their biomaterial. This study reports activity cytotoxicity on human colon cells covalently cross-linked particles based AX (AXP). in vitro before after gelation was measured using 2,2-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS+), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), ferric reducing power (FRAP) methods. effect AXP proliferation (CCD 841 CoN) evaluated MTT assay. presented spherical shape rough surface three-dimensional porous network. Gelation decreased 61–64%. did not affect or show any toxic regular cell line CCD CoN. results indicate are promising biocompatible activity. could suitable development

Covalently Cross-Linked Arabinoxylans Films for Debaryomyces hansenii Entrapment.
In the present study, wheat water extractable arabinoxylans (WEAX) were isolated and characterized, and their capability to form covalently cross-linked films in presence of Debaryomyces hansenii was evaluated. WEAX presented an arabinose to xylose ratio of 0.60, a ferulic acid and diferulic acid content of 2.1 and 0.04 µg∙mg(-1) WEAX, respectively and a Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) spec...
متن کاملCytotoxicity effect of Zataria multiflora Boiss. on two human colon carcinoma cell lines
Background and objectives: Natural products are one of the major sources for investigations of novel medicines. Zataria multiflora Boiss (ZM) has shown pharmacological activities especially in gastrointestinal tract; however, there are limited studies about its cytotoxicity effects. In this study, the effect of Zataria multiflora was examined on two colon canc...
متن کاملAntioxidant Effects of Pinus Eldarica Extracts Against Cisplatin-Induced Cytotoxicity in Human Hepatoma (Hepg2) Cell Line
Background: Cisplatin has cytotoxic effects through free radical generation. Reports indicate that various members of Pinaceae family may have antioxidant properties. In this study we investigated the cytoprotective effects of needle volatile oil and bark extract of Pinus eldarica in hepatoma G2 (HepG2) cell line. Methods: Using the maceration technique, we obtained the ethanolic extract of ...
متن کاملThe Pro-apoptotic Effect of Allicin on Human Colon Adenocarcinoma Cell Line HT29
Background and Objective: The management of apoptotic cell death has been considered as a putative therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment. In the present study we investigated the putative pro-apoptotic effect of allicin, the main garlic organosulfur component with repeatedly claimed chemopreventive potency, on the human adenocarcinoma cell line HT29 as an apoptosis resistant cell line, i...
متن کاملCytotoxicity Effect of Extract of Hull Less Seed Pumpkin on Human Papillary Thyroid Cancer Cell Line
Introduction: Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy tumor, and its incidence is increasing. Chemotherapy drugs such as Paclitaxel (PTX) are common treatment for cancer, but they have many side effects. Plants are as a source of anticancer agents. The purpose of this study was the assessment of cytotoxic effects of hydro-alcoholic extract in comparison with those of Paclitaxel ...
